Certification and/or Master's Degree Program in Low Vision/Blindness

This distance education program will prepare you to become a professional educator who can work with children and adults with low vision/blindness. This graduate level program prepares special education teachers to engage in current research-based practices and to provide high quality educational programs and services in elementary and/or secondary schools. The Low Vision/Blindness Program at WVU offers three options:

This program is available ENTIRELY ONLINE throughout West Virginia; it is NOT YET available across the United States, or in international areas.

The certification program leads to initial certification or additional endorsement in Visual Impairments in West Virginia in Grades PreK-Adult (or the equivalent in other states). This program does NOT require prior certification for licensure in West Virginia. Individuals seeking certification or endorsement in other states or in international areas should consult with local and state agencies about certification requirements that apply specifically to them and confirmation that the WVU program will satisfy those requirements.

This qualifies as an alternative certification program in West Virginia.
