WVU students are eligible for a variety of scholarships. Some scholarships
have very specific criteria while others are more general in their
requirements. Some scholarships require West Virginia residency. Previous
academic success is an important qualifying ingredient in all awards.
Minimum academic criteria to qualify for a scholarship have traditionally
been a 3.0 grade point average, and an ACT score of 22 or an SAT score
of 1010.
Sources of Scholarship
Funds
Scholarship assistance for students in the College of Human Resources
& Education is primarily available from three sources:
The WVU Foundation
Private Scholarship Web Page also enables students to search a
database that contains information about many WVU scholarships. The
database can be searched in a number of ways, for example by geographical
residence, major, department, college or by other key words. (Suggestion:
be sure to use a variety of words related to your area of interest
when using the "Search" feature, such as "teaching,"
"teacher," "education," "speech," or
"audiology.")
Future
Scholarship Eligibility
Some scholarships are awarded on a continuing basis (provided the
student makes appropriate academic progress and maintains a required
grade point average). Other scholarships are one-time awards. Some
one-time awards may be applied for again and others are limited to
one year. Students who receive scholarships are responsible for inquiring
about conditions relating to their future eligibility for the scholarship
and any yearly application processes. Mrs. Janet Burkle (Janet.Burkle@mail.wvu.edu or
telephone 304.293.5703) can be very helpful to students seeking this
information. |
