Membership and Responsibilities

Faculty holding tenured or tenure-track positions will be elected from the Faculty Assembly in a college-wide ballot in the following manner: three Professors, three Associate Professors, and three Assistant Professors. Every academic department shall have at least one tenured member on the committee. The charge of the committee shall include, but is not limited to, the following:

a. Conducting reviews of faculty for promotion and tenure and serving as the college-level merit committee.

b. Conducting first and second year reviews of new faculty.

c. Reviewing faculty for emeritus status.

d. Reviewing and revising the College Promotion and Tenure document and the College Merit Policy document to be consistent with university policy.

e. Working cooperatively with the Research, Service and Professional Development Committee to help establish mentoring opportunities for beginning faculty, including:

1. Annual review and promotion and tenure.

2. Having a representative meet with beginning faculty to provide information about the review process in the fall semester.

f. Maintaining a written summary of pertinent actions and decisions and committee member attendance of each meeting. The records will be available to individual members of the Faculty Assembly upon request.
