Dean Anne H. Nardi speaks with members of the faculty
at one of the regular all-college faculty meetings.Traditions of the academic community in general and of West Virginia University in particular demand that the faculties of the individual colleges participate fully in their own governance. It is recognized that the legal authority to guide and regulate the College is vested in the Dean of the College. It is further recognized that as a corollary of academic freedom, the faculty has a responsibility for guiding the scholarly pursuits of the College.
The College of Human Resources and Education established a Constitution to facilitate the meaningful flow of information and to further understanding among the faculty and the administration, and to assist the Dean in developing college policy.
The Faculty Executive Committee, chaired by the Faculty Chair, and the Classified Staff Executive Committee are both elected committees that address college-wide topics. Elected faculty standing committees include: Academic Affairs; Research, Service and Professional Development; Student Affairs; and Promotion and Tenure. An additional college committee, the Diversity Task Force, has also been established.
