The College of Human Resources & Education was established in 1927 as a separate college within West Virginia University. This unit has a rich history of serving West Virginia .

The mission and specific goals of the College continue to evolve. Currently the College is undergoing a planning process that has provided renewed focus to this mission through a new strategic plan.

In order to accomplish its goals, the College is organized into six academic departments:

  • Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling & Counseling Psychology
  • Curriculum & Instruction/Literacy Studies
  • Educational Leadership Studies
  • Special Education
  • Speech Pathology & Audiology
  • Technology, Learning & Culture
Additional centers and projects , such as the International Center for Disability Information, assist the College in accomplishing its goals. A variety of internal committees and the College's Visiting Committee also aid the College in its work.

The College of Human Resources & Education is proud of the degree opportunities that it offers, its student body, its graduates, and its dedicated faculty and staff.
