The College of Human Resources & Education was established in 1927 as a separate college within West Virginia University. This unit has a rich history of serving West Virginia .
The mission and specific goals of the College continue to evolve. Currently the College is undergoing a planning process that has provided renewed focus to this mission through a new strategic plan.
In order to accomplish its goals, the College is organized into six academic departments:
Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling & Counseling Psychology- Curriculum & Instruction/Literacy Studies
- Educational Leadership Studies
- Special Education
- Speech Pathology & Audiology
- Technology, Learning & Culture
Additional centers and projects , such as the International Center for Disability Information, assist the College in accomplishing its goals. A variety of internal committees and the College's Visiting Committee also aid the College in its work.
