Four
from HR&E Elected to Phi Beta Kappa
For the first time ever, four graduating HR&E students
have been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the national academic
honorary society. The students are all graduates of the
five-year teacher education program.
Students in the five year program graduate with both
a bachelor's degree in their area of concentration and
a master's degree in education. Students whose major area
of certification is English, mathematics, foreign language,
or social studies (interdisciplinary studies) receive
their bachelor's degree from the Eberly College of Arts
and Sciences. This degree makes them eligible for election
to Phi Beta Kappa.
The four students (pictured at left) are:
-
J. Scott Biola, Interdepartmental Studies,
Elkins, WV
-
James E. Greaver, Jr., English, Bridgeport,

-
Keisha Hopkins, English, Bluefield,

-
Shayanne Jones, Foreign Languages, Ridgeley,

They were among the 53 graduates inducted on into Phi Beta
Kappa's Alpha Chapter of West Virginia in a ceremony in the
Gluck Theater on the day prior to commencement.
