The Benedum Collaborative
Tripartite (ECAS, HR&E, PDS Collaboration)

Dean Mary Ellen Mazey and Dean Anne Nardi have been discussing ways that the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Human Resources Education, and the Professional Development Schools can work together to explore ongoing collaborative relationships that will be beneficial to all parties.

Our initial collaborative event was March 19, 2007. We met again in the fall of 2007 and again during the spring of 2008. We plan to hold similar gatherings two or three times each year--a model which Mary Ellen Mazey used at Wright State--to keep the conversations ongoing.

Tripartite Event: Collaborating to Inform our Work - March 20, 2008
The focus of our meeting was to continue to develop connections among everyone involved in teacher education. Faculty from all three entities worked in small groups to address challenges they face in educating K-12 and college students and shared potential solutions. If you are interested in the raw data from the table talk and/or the condensed list of recurring themes that we identified, you may examine each at the following links:

Triparite Event: 21st Century Learning - March 19, 2007
The 21st Century Learning framework recently adopted by the West Virginia Department of Education is the product of a national partnership among concerned leaders in business, education and government. This framework is designed to address the gap between what students learn in school, and the skills they need as 21st century workers and citizens.
