Want to be a Teacher?

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BACHELOR’S DEGREE…

The College of Human Resources and Education’s  nationally recognized Benedum Collaborative Model of Teacher Education Program provides students with an integrated Bachelor’s Degree in the area they plan to teach and a Master’s Degree in Education.  Students who enroll in elementary education also become certified in

special education, early childhood, ESL, middle school math, science, social studies, foreign language, or language arts. Secondary education students become certified in grades 5-adult in English, foreign language, mathematics, science, or social studies.

Clinical experiences are at the heart of this program. Students spend over 1100 hours in the 28 exemplary professional development schools (PDS’s).  University course work and clinical experiences are closely integrated so that students benefit from a coordinated, sequenced program.

In addition, this  program provides students with practical technology and research skills. Students culminate the program with a portfolio  demonstrating proficiency in content standards and a presentation of their  action research projects.
